PEC (priority existing chemicals):

  • Non-PEC substances can be pre-registered.
  • PEC substances are not allowed to be pre-registered. It is required to complete the registration before exporting exceeds 1 ton/year to Korea. Registration is not required when exporting less than 1 ton/year.

PCS (Priority Control Substance): 'Product' is a unique concept under K-REACH. A product means a mixture or an article used by consumers or a component of the mixture or the article that may expose consumers to chemical substances. Manufacturers and importers of products containing >0.1% and >=1t/y PCS shall submit product notification to the MoE. The first list comes into force on 1 July 2019. The second list comes into force on 1 July 2021.

CMR: The pre-registration grace peroid for CMR substance exceeds 1 ton/year is 31 Dec 2021.

Toxic substance: A toxic substance can be pre-registered if it's not listed in the PEC list.

Restricted substance: A restricted substance can be pre-registered if it's not listed in the PEC list.

Prohibited substance: A prohibited substance cannot be placed in the Korea market, thus pre-registration and registration are not allowed.
